Flip the text if you're using a teleprompter with beam-splitter glass. This makes the words read the right way in the reflection.
Paste or type your own script. Keep scripts in separate tabs so you can switch between them without replacing your text.
Choose a text size between 24 and 128 px. Check you can read it from where you'll be sitting or standing.
Read light text on a dark background. If you wear glasses, check a short recording for screen reflections.

You can open it in the teleprompter using the button below.
Paste up to 4,000 characters here, or paste longer scripts directly in the app.
Put your screen just below or beside the camera. Record a short test to check where you're looking. If you have a teleprompter with glass in front of the lens, the beam-splitter glass reflects your screen so you can read while looking into the camera. Turn on mirror mode if the words look backwards in the glass.
It doesn't record video or match the scrolling to your voice. You choose the speed and use a separate camera or recording app. Some browsers let you start, stop and reset with voice commands. Read more about the teleprompter software and features included for free.
Your scripts and two sets of settings are saved in the browser you're using. They won't appear on your other devices. Keep a copy of your script in a separate document, because clearing your browser storage or closing a private browsing session can remove it. For help getting started, see the online script reader and script scroller guides. You can also read about using LilPrompter as a free autocue.
Use the words to minutes calculator to estimate how long your script will take, or time yourself reading it aloud. The font size preview lets you try different text sizes and line widths before you record.

Yes. All the teleprompter features are free, including mirror mode and saved scripts. You can use them in your browser without an account.
No, the script scrolls at the speed you set. In supported browsers, you can allow microphone access and use English voice commands to start, stop or reset it. Those commands don't change the speed or follow the words you're saying.
LilPrompter can't show your script over your phone's camera app. To read while you film, use another device for the script. With one phone, you can practise first, then switch to the camera to record.
Your browser saves them on the device you're using, as long as it allows local storage. They won't sync to your other devices. Keep a copy somewhere else too, because clearing browser data or closing a private browsing session can remove them.
It flips the text so you can read its reflection in teleprompter glass. Leave it off when you're reading straight from a screen. If your teleprompter already flips the image, you may not need it.
The box on this page can send up to 4,000 characters to the app. Some scripts need a shorter limit because of the characters they contain. If yours won't fit, open the app and paste it there. We won't cut any of your text.
Text scrolling works in current browsers. Fullscreen and voice commands depend on your browser, and voice commands need microphone permission. Try the controls on the device you plan to use before recording.
