Choose slide notes or a separate scrolling script
Teleprompter for Microsoft Teams
For slide-by-slide notes, start with PowerPoint Live in Teams. For an opening statement, interview outline or longer scrolling script, keep LilPrompter in a separate browser window near your camera and share only your presentation source.
Choose and rehearse your Teams workflow
Decide where your notes belong
Use PowerPoint Live when each slide has its own notes. Use a separate prompter for a continuous script or an announcement without a slide deck.
Set the camera and reading position
Check the camera Teams is using, then place readable text close to that lens. Keep the meeting controls and the next slide action within reach.
Choose the presentation source
For PowerPoint Live, select Share and choose the file in the PowerPoint Live section. For another application, choose its intended share source rather than the display containing your notes.
Verify slide and attendee views
Check which slides participants see and where your presenter notes appear. A normal screen share of a presenter view is different from using PowerPoint Live.
Practise a question and a slide change
Pause the separate prompter during questions. Rehearse returning focus and advancing the deck; LilPrompter does not synchronize scrolling to Teams slides.
When should you use PowerPoint Live notes?
Microsoft’s PowerPoint Live guide shows slides alongside the presenter’s notes in Teams. Choose Share, then the deck in PowerPoint Live; browsing for a new file can upload it as part of the meeting. Check that you selected the intended version before presenting.
This fits a presentation with a few sentences attached to each slide. Put those sentences in the deck’s notes so the material stays with the relevant slide. A separate scrolling script is useful when the words span several slides or when you need a planned statement without a deck.
If your goal is a prerecorded narrated deck, see PowerPoint’s recording teleprompter. A live Teams presentation and PowerPoint’s recording studio are different workflows.
How do you keep a separate script beside Teams?
Open LilPrompter in its own window, paste your spoken section and choose readable text before adjusting the fixed scroll rate. Keep a short opening visible near the camera; put detail that you might skip under clear headings.

Shared content

Your camera feed also appears if enabled. Check the selected source from an attendee view.
On two monitors, choose the shared source by its contents rather than assuming a second display is excluded. If a demonstration requires the whole computer display, use an independent reading device for the script and transfer the text manually.
Avoid a slide script that runs ahead of the meeting
A fixed-rate script keeps moving until you pause it. End each planned section with a clear marker, stop before opening discussion and find the next heading when you resume. The app does not listen for your slide number or advance a Teams deck.
Test focus changes: clicking Teams puts keyboard input there. Return to the prompter before using its keyboard controls. Optional spoken start, stop and reset commands may reach the meeting microphone; a tested manual pause is often easier during questions.
Use the rehearsal timer to time only the planned speaking section, then reserve a separate block for questions. Rehearse a full slide change with the camera on so you can judge where your eyes move.
Check the final output before the real presentation
- Confirm the attendee sees the intended deck or application.
- Check that your private script is outside that selected output.
- Advance a slide or change the demonstration window and confirm the result again.
- Try a question, pause the read and return to the right section.
- If the meeting will be recorded, review a short authorized test of the same capture arrangement.
LilPrompter supplies the reading screen. Teams handles meeting audio, video, sharing and available recording features. Keep those roles clear when deciding which controls to test.
Teleprompter for Microsoft Teams FAQ
Does Teams already show PowerPoint speaker notes?
PowerPoint Live provides a presenter view with slides and notes. Use that workflow when the notes belong to individual slides, rather than screen-sharing your private presenter view.
Does LilPrompter sync to slide changes?
No. Its script scrolls at a fixed rate and you pause, resume or reset it yourself. It does not connect to Teams or advance PowerPoint slides.
Can Teams capture my browser prompter?
Yes, if the selected screen or window contains it. Choose the source deliberately and check the attendee view before presenting or recording.
