What Is an Autocue?
"Autocue" is the term used in the UK, Australia, and many other countries for what Americans call a "teleprompter." They're the same thing: a device or application that scrolls text on screen so you can read a script while looking at the camera.
The name comes from Autocue Ltd, a British company that manufactured some of the earliest teleprompter systems for television. Today, "autocue" is used generically to describe any prompting system, whether hardware or software.
