Set up your camera

Choose your inputs, then start the preview. Nothing records until you choose.

Resolution is reported after the camera starts. Mirroring affects only the self-view, not the encoded download.

Choose Start to request access.

Nothing is uploaded. Access needs your browser permission, and recording begins only when you choose.

Record a take

Pause leaves time out of the take. Stop saves it below.

00:00

Start the camera, then record when you are ready.

Recording stays in this page’s memory. Limits: 30 minutes of active recording or 100 MiB. Leaving the page discards an undownloaded take. Browser backgrounding or mobile suspension can interrupt capture; keep this tab active for a reliable recording.

Record and review a short test

Five steps from camera preview to a downloaded take.

  1. Choose whether to include microphone audio, then start the camera.
  2. Check the selected inputs and the delivered resolution. Device or setting changes stop the current input before a new session.
  3. Record a short take, pause if needed, and choose Stop and save recording.
  4. Play the completed video and check framing and audio before using it.
  5. Download the take before deleting it or leaving the page.

Native browser capture with visible limits

What the browser decides, and the limits on each take.

The preview is muted to avoid feedback. Resolution preferences can fall back to the camera’s available settings. The output keeps the native format, with a 30-minute active-time and 100-MiB local memory limit. Keep the tab active: device removal, browser interruption or mobile suspension can end a recording.

The media-capture API requires explicit camera and optional microphone permission. Recording uses supported browser formats; this tool does not promise a universal codec.

Questions about this tool

Short answers about what the tool does, what it leaves out and where your data goes.

Does this always record MP4 or HD video?

No. It requests your preferred resolution and shows the settings actually delivered by the camera. It chooses a browser-supported recording format and labels the resulting MIME type and extension.

Does mirroring change the downloaded video?

The mirror switch changes only the self-view preview. The recorder encodes the original stream, without a canvas mirror or re-encoding step.

Can I record without microphone audio?

Yes. Turn off Include microphone before starting the camera. That session requests video only.

Is this integrated with the teleprompter app?

This is a separate website utility. It does not embed a prompter, follow your speech, retouch a face or change your background. Use a separate reading setup when you need a script.
