Subtitle Converter and Clean Script

Convert timed subtitles between SRT, VTT and SBV, or remove cue metadata to make a rehearsal script. Correct a constant delay or use two reference points for timing drift. Your file is processed locally and the original input stays intact.

Subtitle converter and clean script

Converted in your browser

Interactive tool controls

Add your captions

Paste SRT, VTT or SBV cues, or open a caption file.

Set timing and text options

Each conversion prepares all four outputs. Retiming is optional.

Timing correction

Valid cue times are kept exactly as they are.

Script and output options

The input is never rewritten. Invalid or zero-duration results block export. Overlaps and source order are retained with warnings. Inline VTT timestamps must keep original timing.

Paste timed subtitles or load the example. Up to 2 MiB and 50,000 cues.

Choose your output

Switch between clean script, SRT, VTT and SBV without converting again.

Choose Convert subtitles, then pick a clean script or a timed format to copy or download.

Convert once, choose the output you need

One conversion prepares SRT, VTT, SBV and a clean script.

  1. Paste subtitles or choose a UTF-8 SRT, VTT or SBV file up to 2 MiB.
  2. Choose speaker and timing options, then select Convert subtitles.
  3. Review errors and overlap warnings. The tool preserves cue order and does not discard dialogue to hide a timing problem.
  4. Choose SRT, VTT, SBV or clean text, then copy or download the result. Only clean text offers the explicit prompter handoff.

Shift a delay or correct timing drift

How a constant shift and a two-point correction change cue times.

A constant shift adds the same offset to every cue. Two reference points apply a positive linear scale: target A + (original time − original A) × scale. Negative results are rejected unless you explicitly enable clamping; any resulting zero-duration cue still blocks export. Check the beginning, middle and end against your video before using the file.

The WebVTT specification describes cue timestamps, identifiers, voice tags and settings. Format conversion cannot make every VTT presentation feature available in SRT. Inline timestamp retiming is flagged as unsupported, rather than silently changed.

Questions about this tool

Short answers about what the tool does, what it leaves out and where your data goes.

Can untimed text become subtitles?

This tool does not invent timing. It needs valid timed SRT, VTT or SBV cues. Use the clean-script output when you want words without timestamps.

Will timing change during format conversion?

Keep original timing preserves valid cue times. Shift and two-point correction apply only when selected. Export rounds once to integer milliseconds; invalid or zero-duration cues block export.

What happens to VTT styling and speaker tags?

VTT output retains its supported cue settings and metadata. SRT cannot represent custom VTT positioning or styles; a warning identifies that difference. Clean text removes formatting and can retain VTT voice-tag names and merge consecutive same-speaker cues.
